Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Grand Cru
Sierra Nevada has been making great beer for 30 years now, pioneering the way for better quality brews and also clean energy. Since its inception almost thirty years ago, Sierra Nevada has pioneered many innovations to conserve resources and focus on sustainable business practices like installing over 2000 solar panels to provide power to the brewery. With that being said, Sierra Nevada is known more for the great brews they have created over last 30 years. To celebrate their 30th anniversary, Sierra Nevada has produced 4 editions of "Anniversary" brews so we as the consumer can celebrate along with them. The beer I have chosen this week is the 4th and final edition which is the Brewer's Reserve Grand Cru. This brew consists of their 3 most highly acclaimed beers: Celebration Ale, Bigfoot Ale aged in Bourbon Barrels, and their regular fresh Pale Ale blended together to make one glorious and beautiful creation.
This brew pours a deep, dark, amber color with a brownish head that does not go away. With the thickness of the head, the lacing is sticky and resinous. The aroma consists of oak, smoke, grapefruit, hops, and chocolate. The flavor is complex with many dimensions and layers. Oak is dominant as well as the hops and some sweet malt. What really stood out to me is the finish. IT LINGERS for what seems like forever and is pleasant in every way.
