Cool Springs Wines & Spirits' Featured Beer

Updated December 14, 2009

Kulmbacher Eisbock brewed by Kulmbacher Brauerei (Schörghuber) in Kulmbach, Germany - Originally brought in to Cool Springs just to get something different, this eisbock turned out to be quite a nice find. Surprisingly, Kulmbacher is the highest rated non-retired eisbock on all of ratebeer. It's easy to understand why if you like bock beers as this may be the most rich and flavorful bock on the market. It pours a deep mahogany color with a small off-white head. The nose of of aromatic cereal, crispy malts, raisins, dried fruits, prunes, and fermented fruit. It tastes of bittersweet alchol, cough syrup, and sherry. Concentrated and bold, yet not overwhelming in any sense. Pretty darn good stuff.
