This beer is brewed by Fort Collins Brewery in Fort Collins, Colorado. The Fort Collins Doppelbock claims to be the first ever double smoked Doppelbock in the world. Whether or not this is true is besides the point. This is truly a fantastic brew. It is among the best and most inventive that Fort Collins has to offer. The beer pours a rich amber, brown color with a lovely beige head. It has aromas of bacon, smoke, and caramel. The flavors and palate offer up more of the same with notes of smoke, caramel, molasses, dried fruit, and roasted grains. Despite being double smoked the Fort Collins Doppelbock is well balanced and approachable. It ranks in the 94th percentile overall at Ratebeer.com.
