If you’ve been by the store recently, you may have visited our new beer cellar. We’re really excited about it over here at Cool Springs Wines & Spirits. As you walk in the store, just head directly to your left.
It’s currently located where Frank’s Value Cellar used to be. But don’t worry! Frank’s value wines are still located in that general location. The truth is that Frank’s Value Cellar outgrew that location and needed a little more room to spread its wings. The leftover space was perfect for a beer cellar.
Why a beer cellar? For those of you new to the interesting beer laws in Tennessee, it breaks down like this. To sell any beer above 6.2% alcohol, you must have a liquor license. Thus you can’t find many of the best beers available in grocery or regular beer stores. To get the best IPAs, seasonals, stouts, barley wines, meades, porters, Belgians, bocks, etc…you have to go to a bar or a liquor store like Cool Springs Wines & Spirits.
If you’re a beer lover, you must stop by and see our selection. It keeps getting bigger and brighter every day.

Abita S.O.S. "Save Our Shore" – A Charitable Pilsner
The BP Oil spill in the Gulf was a terrible tragedy. So many lives were affected in so many different aspects. I think not only about human quality of life, but also about the wildlife and how they were so helpless. Abita Brewing Company is doing its part to help the relief effort by coming out with "A Charitable Pilsner". Working with the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board, Abita is helping to restore the environment and assist individuals that were directly affected.
This "Charitable Pilsner" is not only made with Pilsner malts, it also has some wheat malts to spice things up a bit. It pours golden brown with a lasting off-white head that has nice, thin lacing. This Pils has a medium to light body that is slightly sweet and has a generous amount of hoppy flavors at the finish. This brew is a little out of the ordinary for a Pilsner because of its alcohol content (7%) which is just fine by me. There is a hint of alcohol flavor at the finish, but it balances nicely with the hops and the malty background. If you are looking to have a nice, refreshing drink for a good cause, this is the one for you.
